The visit, step by step
Every appointment is shaped around your family. Here is how a typical visit unfolds.
We arrive at your home
Your veterinarian arrives calmly and without hurry. We introduce ourselves, take a moment to settle in, and let your pet get comfortable with a stranger in the house before anything else happens.
We sit with you first
Before we examine your pet, we talk with you. We ask what brought you here, what you've been noticing, what you want for this moment. Your perspective shapes everything that follows.
A gentle, explained procedure
We walk you through every step before it happens. The procedure itself is gentle and peaceful. Your pet remains in their own space, in your arms or nearby, surrounded by the people they love. See how sedation works.
Your family takes all the time you need
There is no rush to end the appointment. Sit with your pet. Say what you need to say. We are present for as long as you want us there.
Aftercare and grief support from here
Before we leave, we coordinate every aftercare detail with deep care and sensitivity. Cremation, memorialization options, home burial guidance: all of it arranged so you don't have to make those decisions alone. Complimentary grief support sessions are available to every family we serve.
A closer look at step three
Many families want to know exactly what will happen before they decide. Here is how a Loved visit works, in plain words.
A gentle sedative, given under the skin
Your veterinarian begins with a sedative, given as a small injection just under the skin. No muscle is targeted. The sedative combines medication for sleep with pain relief and anxiety relief. We distract your pet so the injection is quick, much like a vaccine.
An honest word about the poke
Some pets react to the injection itself, especially with certain illnesses, age-related changes, or the stress of someone new in the home. The medication is not meant to cause pain.
Drowsy within about 5 to 10 minutes
Because the medication goes in under the skin, it spreads through the body slowly. In about 5 to 10 minutes your pet starts to feel drowsy. Some feel a little loose on their feet. Many gently lay their head down and fall asleep. Many even snore softly, resting more comfortably than they have in a long while.
Time together, with no clock
The sedation does not wear off at any point during the appointment. That gives your family time with a pet who is no longer feeling pain or discomfort, and time to say goodbye without rushing. Some families record that soft snoring, because it is how they remember their pet at rest.
Then the final step, when you are ready
Once your pet is sedated, your veterinarian places a small IV catheter in one of the legs. This gives a direct route for the final medication, so your pet feels no pain or discomfort. When your family is ready, we go ahead. We explain this step to you at your visit, before it happens.
