Dr. Stephanie Bowes, DVM, holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Psychology from the University of South Florida and earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine, where she also completed a certificate in Veterinary Business Management. Licensed in Florida since 2016, she became a Certified Peaceful Euthanasia Veterinarian in 2023, a credential that reflects the work she had already been drawn to for years in clinical practice. She currently serves on the Florida Veterinary Medical Association Executive Board as the District 3 Central representative.
I found it more and more important to focus and give attention to a pet's last chapter or few pages of their story when it came to supporting my clients. End of life care isn't all that I wanted to focus on, but it was important to me to provide a thoughtful service to families that didn't make them feel that much worse about their decision. Too often families that I've seen felt a lack of support in making one of the most difficult decisions for a family member.
There was this complete drop-off when it came to dedicated time and space to understanding the age process in a pet or the changes they were experiencing with any given disease. I've always believed my place as a veterinarian was a member of their trusted care team, and I was there for enable families to care for their pets in the best way possible...and that means to the very end.

A lifelong animal lover, Dr. Melissa Hood has dedicated her career to caring for pets in companion animal practices located in Florida and South Carolina. Dr. Hood attended the University of Florida for her undergraduate degree as well as graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. She has spent almost 3 decades as a small animal practitioner building a reputation for her compassionate and personalized approach.
An avid swimmer and triathlete in her high school and college years, Dr. Hood now enjoys exploring the great outdoors through hiking, camping and travel with her husband, daughter and son. Currently she also shares her home with two rescue cats and a cattle dog mix.
Dr. Hood has offered home euthanasia services in the past and is honored to offer this meaningful service with Loved Veterinary Services again to allow beloved pets to pass peacefully at home surrounded by love.

Yes. Loved brings pet hospice and comfort care to your home in Plant City, Brandon, Valrico and Dover. Comfort Care is an ongoing plan for dogs and cats, with regular check-ins, pain management and quality-of-life reassessments. It starts with a $485 Quality of Life Assessment, travel included. A trained veterinary technician visits on the schedule your vet recommends, and your prescribing vet reviews every visit. Call (863) 225-4263 and our care team will talk it through with you.
Yes. Comfort Care is available for cats and dogs. Cats hide discomfort, so our team looks for what a cat has stopped doing, such as using a tower or a favorite perch. Fluids, anti-nausea injections and pain injections can be given at home, with no carrier and no car ride.
Yes. Pet palliative care focuses on comfort and quality of life, and it can begin at diagnosis. In Plant City it is part of Comfort Care, our ongoing in-home plan built after a Quality of Life Assessment. Hospice usually describes the stage when treatment is no longer the goal. Comfort Care covers both, and it works alongside your pet's regular veterinarian or oncologist.
This is one of the most common worries. Your veterinarian begins with a gentle sedative, given as a small injection just under the skin. It brings sleep, pain relief, and anxiety relief together. In about 5 to 10 minutes your pet feels drowsy and settles into sleep, and many pets snore softly. The sedation does not wear off during the visit, so nobody has to rush. Some pets react to the injection itself, and your veterinarian tells you so before beginning. Most families find the experience calmer and more peaceful than they expected.
Care starts at $485. That is the cost of the quality of life assessment, which every service begins with, and it includes travel. We set aside a window of around 2 hours for the visit, and you receive the assessment at the visit. After it, you get a quote and a service proposal. The proposal could be euthanasia, comfort care, or no service. If we cannot provide what your pet needs, we recommend a primary vet. Quotes vary. Larger pets can add fees.
