A compassionate space

Grief looks different for everyone

Whether your loss is recent, long ago, or still ahead of you, this group offers a space to be present at your own pace, with others who genuinely understand what it means to carry this.

Losing a pet is losing a family member, and our culture doesn't always make room for that. Our sessions welcome all forms of grief: anticipatory, recent, or long-carried, without judgement, comparison, or a timeline for healing.

These sessions are helpful for those who:

  • Are facing an anticipated loss and don't know how to prepare
  • Have recently said goodbye and need a space to be heard
  • Are carrying grief that still feels heavy, even after time has passed
  • Want reassurance that their feelings are normal and understood

“Last Thursday night, our family had to say goodbye to our 14 year old dog. She'd been suffering through heart failure and things started to decline rapidly. Dr. Bowes with EverLoved Vet Care came to our home and it could not have been a more beautiful, peaceful experience. We had our 9 year old children there and Dr. Bowes communicated so beautifully with them. One wanted to be there the whole time, and the other was in and out, during the 1.5 hour appointment. She had a beautiful book for my daughter to look at and read, which was very helpful. Dr. Bowes took her time, guided us through every step in the process, made sure we understood and were comfortable with everything, and she gave us plenty of time to have final words with our baby and to share memories. Everything was so gentle and peaceful. As difficult as it was emotionally, I could not have asked for a better experience for her end of life. Dr. Bowes also left us with grief support materials, including for children, and we also got a really nice personal card a couple days after. We want to thank Dr. Bowes and EverLoved for making this hard time bearable and just for leaving us with positive memories at the end. I think it will let all of us, especially the kids, be able to remember our doggie in the future in a way that is NOT painful, if that makes sense. Thank you again!”

“After wartime/combat service I was awarded a service dog. She was dying and could hardly function. I called Everloved and a veterinarian was sent to our home to evaluate my service dog. My service dog was dying and suffering. The veterinarian confirmed that my beloved Dutchess of so many years was suffering and in pain. We made the decision to proceed. The doctor explained everything to my daughters of eight and my twin six year olds. She was an angel, a kindred spirit, a teacher with infinite wisdom like an oracle. She was caring, tactful, and respectful. Slowly she administered a pain reliever and sleep medication. For the first time in months my service dog was in a total relaxed, pain free state. She then administered the medication that allowed my loyal companion to cross the rainbow bridge into the astral plains. Everloved was thoughtful, caring, professional and gave us time to cry and mourn. After a few days of mourning, they returned with her ashes in an ornate box, samples of her coat, and a puppy paw imprint. They sent us a card and ensured our needs were met. They connected us to a counseling service for my girls to express to a counselor their feelings and the counselor helped them through the bereavement process.Thank you for you consummate professionalism, caring, and understanding. Your firm was amazing, your doctor an angel!Semper Fidelis,Mr. RamosAviator, Retired”
