"When a senior pet is treated with gentle care, especially at that final veterinary appointment, this honors and preserves all of the love and memories that they and their pet parent have experienced over time."
Dr. Campbell attended the University Florida for undergraduate studies and veterinary school (Go Gators!). She moved to Tampa in 2023 to be closer to family and the beach. As a veterinarian, her passions involve senior and palliative care, arthritic pain management, and preventative wellness. Outside of work she enjoys taking and teaching yoga, trying new restaurants with friends, going on weekend trips with her husband, roller blading, and decorating cakes. She has two cats and two senior dogs, which has led to her devotion to bettering the lives of senior dogs in their golden years.
As a pet parent to two senior dogs, I've always had a soft spot for grey-faced furkiddos. When practicing in a general practice clinic setting, I always gravitated towards cases that involved senior care and management. Whether balancing geriatric disease, pain management, or bettering quality of life overall - I always felt like I was really making a difference as a veterinarian in these patients specifically.
One of my personal dogs came to me as a patient with some back related mobility issues. Her owner at the time opted for euthanasia, and I just had a gut feeling it wasn't her time. For the first time since becoming a vet, I asked if they'd prefer to surrender her to the clinic and they graciously agreed. We were able to get her fully back to walking (and running!) within two weeks through medication management, acupuncture, laser therapy, and physical therapy. Two and a half years have passed since that appointment, and Holly has a wonderful quality of life and hopefully many more years to come!
